Something Wrong with My PS3?

Whenever I switch it on and select my account, it doesn't come up with the disc icon and the game name next to it in the menu, even though I have a game in it. To get it, I have to take the disc out and put it back in, again.

I've tried sucking and blowing the disc hole, but no luck. :facepalm

I am no expert in PS3's as I have never actually seen one and have no desire to, but a few basic troubleshooting things:

Is it only one game that this happens on? Can you play movies on it? Have you tried power cycling it for at least 10 seconds?

Perhaps the disc drive is going on it?

Could using a Blue Ray lens cleaner disk help? Apparently I should use one every three to four weeks.

It's probably worth a shot. I doubt it could hurt anything.

Well it did nothing. The screen just went black and the disc started spinning. The disc actually had some furry thing on it. XD

I'm gonna get it replaced rather than fixed, today. There are a few scratches on the bottom which I've noticed. I doubt that's really the problem, but the PS3 has been moved around a lot from my room, to my older brothers room, to downstairs and I don't think my brother has treated it with the best of care. Apparently it's quite a sensitive product.

I know that when it's been switched off it's just been switched off via the switch and not been shut down. Maybe that could cause problems. But anyway if it happens again I'll just have to learn to live with it. :)

Why can't products be of good quality? Like the PS2. In the 6+ years that I've had it I haven't had any problems like this. (Well sometimes the laser has trouble reading discs.)

EDIT:

The new PS3 is fine. :)
