Any good sound recording software?

Basically one where you push a Record button and it records whatever sounds are happening on your PC. (Free, though. :) )

For example if I was watching a YouTube video and I wanted to record the sound on it, I'd push the button and it would just record.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

The best way to do this is to then get a cord that will plug one end into the audio out and the other end into the audio in on your PC.

Recording from the speaker's output itself will produce background noise. Which isn't what you want. You can probably get a cord like that from Best Buy, Radio Shack, etc.

So then I'd have to be extra careful on the timings of when I record it? ok.
But what would I actually search for on eBay?

No, because you can cut out the white space. Not only is Audacity an audio recorder, it is also an audio editor.

Just curious. Why did you order it from Ebay? You could have cut out the shipping charges and wait time by buying it in store.

You plug one end into the microphone port and and the other into the speaker port. Then just select the microphone in Audacity and press record. Then press play on what ever you are recording.

I can't find the file after I clearly saved it as an mp3 which I exported to Windows > System 32.

Why would you be saving it to the system32 folder? Unless you are referring to the MP3 codec thing that has to be installed in Audacity? More details please.

ok, that doesn't matter anymore as I've downloaded this. :D :D All I need to do is cut some of the music.

I'm going to use Audacity for this. I've tried highlighting the part I'd like deleted, but in Edit > Cut/Trim/Delete they're all disabled. So how do I cut it please?

I've followed this until it says go to Cut on the Edit menu because the most of the options don't work.
