I'm using Windows Media Player 11, and can't burn a disc using the Windows Millennium Edition tower, which I upgraded to Windows XP when I first got it. Here's the message I get when I insert a blank disc into the CD Drive "(D:)". Any help, please? As I REALLY like this music I want to burn. Maybe the tower itself is too old... :hmmm: |

My guess would be a bad batch of CD-Rs or at least that one CD. If you can, try a different brand of blank CDs or try burning something to that CD from another computer. If a different computer can write to that CD then it might be that your CD burner isn't functioning properly. Also make sure that the drive is a CD burner. With a tower that old it's a possibility. I think that most CD burners will say "compact disc writer" or something similar on the front of the drive tray. (Anyone else can throw out whatever they think. It's still too early for me so that's all I can think of right now.) |

I've tried three different kinds of blank CDs. If my burner isn't functioning properly or it's too old, then I can't transfer them to the other computer, can I?

A couple things for you to check: Are you able to burn cds in other programs besides WMP? If you put a different disc in, does it allow you to burn the cd? Have you done any recent updates to the program? I'm going to move this topic to the Computer and Networking help section. |

If you can't burn it, you can still put it on a USB stick, can you? |

Try going online and looking for something else to burn with. I use Alcohol 120 to do all my burning. |
