Hello,

I'd like to get some cheap speakers for my PC, so I can listen to talk radio while doing stuff like ironing and such, boring household chores. I saw a lot of very different boxes in the stores and I wonder what wattage do I need, and do the boxes need a separate power jack?

Since you aren't going to be doing too much with them, you can get away with probably 1.5-12 watts, that general area. I have 60watt on mine, and when I was still at my parents house, you could hear them loud and clear downstairs at the other end of the house.

Almost all of them are going to require a separate power outlet, though there are a few that will accept batteries or will run without a separate power outlet.

My personal recommendation is Logitech. We picked up a $16 pair of logitech speakers, nothing special for my g/f. She actually plays music on it, and the sound quality is actually pretty decent for what she has.

Thanks, Speedy. I guess I will have to shovel free a power outlet somehow. Maybe I can listen to them speakers *or* print something in the future. As if I would print much, haha.
